Countries That Require a Visa For Oman

Are you thinking of taking a trip to Oman? If treks on camels, camping in the vast desert, and driving safaris appeal to you, then Oman is the perfect holiday destination. Oman gives you a true Arabic experience with plantations of frankincense, souks (marketplaces) representing long-gone worlds, modern cities, luxury hotels, and beautiful beaches. There is something for everyone who visits Oman.

Oman, officially the Sultanate of Oman, is different from its neighbouring countries because of its complex history of interaction with the rest of the world. Omani traders once ruled the Arabian, travelling out of the ports of Muscat and Salalah to establish trading relationships with the Portuguese empire in Africa by establishing trading outposts as far as Mozambique and Zanzibar. They aligned with the British after slavery was abolished. This resulted in the conservative yet open Islamic society that is modern Oman. It is considered to be the most welcoming of all Arabic countries, helping tourists feel at home.

Before you plan a trip to Oman, you should know about its visa requirements so that you are fully prepared.

TYPES OF VISA

SINGLE ENTRY VISA

The single-entry e-Visa (aka 26B Tourist Visit Visa) is valid for 30 days, starting from the date of arrival in Oman. This e-Visa must be used in the six months following its approval. In case it is not used in this period, the travel document becomes invalid.

MULTI ENTRY VISA

The multi-entry (aka 36B Visit) e-Visa is valid for one year, starting from the date of the first arrival in Oman. It allows multi-entries with a maximum of one month stay for each of them. It also has to be first used within the six months after its initial approval.

ENTRY WITH CHILDREN

Single parents or any adult travelling with a child or children may be asked to show documentary evidence of parental responsibility while entering Oman and leaving it. If children under the age of 18 are travelling alone, a consent letter is needed from one of the parents and a photocopy of the father’s passport. Children need to apply for a visa in advance.

CONDITIONAL VISA

There is also one other specific visa requirement that does not apply to everyone; that is the conditional visa. The citizens of the following countries need to possess a valid residence permit or visa issued by the Schengen area, UK, USA, Japan, Australia or Canada. Otherwise, they may not be eligible to apply for an Oman e-visa, and they would need to go to the nearest embassy to do so.
